ILUGNY members put on a full show at the Elmont Memorial Library, in Elmont, NY (https://www.elmontlibrary.org). Organized by Damien M., the ILUGNY show was the centerpiece of the Library’s “LEGO Day.” The show officially started at 11 am and continued until 3 pm, but there were many viewers who came early and a few who stayed late. We estimate that 1800 – 2000 community members – parents, kids, seniors – attended.
The Library has several large and small spaces which ILUGNY happily populated. In a large theater lobby integrated into the Library, ILUGNY members displayed a vast variety of MOC’s across at least 7 conference tables.
There was an extended moonbase built collaboratively by John K., Brian W., Damien M., and others:
Visitors had a lot of fun trying to find the over 20 Mickey Mouse figures and pieces in this part of the moonbase:
The moonbase display also included Pizzatron, for all the hungry spacefolk when they’re done with the day:
At the opposite end of the MOC time continuum, there was a castle by Eric S. (left), and medieval buildings by Tyson S (center and right):
Jason K brought a Great Ball Contraption:

There were also many mosaics by Brian W.,Tyson S., and Jeremy O.:
Elisa T. brought her first mosaic:
Mickey and Minnie made an appearance, in a mosaic by Brian W, along with others by him:
Bill M brought minifigs and a series of Galaxy Explorer builds, among other things:
There was a modular set of buildings and other MOCS with a variety of themes:
And Jeremy P. and Tyson S. brought a lot of starships:
along with many other vehicles (and Jason P. himself):
There was an unrelated free performance at the theater that day. Theater audience members – who tended to be seniors – as well as the families participating in the Library’s LEGO Day viewed the displays at a relaxed pace and talked with LUG members. The display area was staffed by Jason K., Jason P., Rick T., Bill M., Elisa T., Brian W., Tyson S., and Jeremy O.
In a smaller room near the MOCs, there was a 30-minute build challenge which 42 kids participated in over the course of seven shifts. The set used was the Speed Champions poly bag. The Build Challenge was staffed by Damien M., Bill M., and Jeremy O.

In yet another room, conference tables were loaded with single-color LEGO 2×4 bricks which participants were welcome to build with.
This room was staffed by Rick T.,
along with Brian W. and a Library volunteer.
Many families had good, extended time building, including several young builders who created their own names, and the word, “Love,” after Brian W built “Elmont.”
In addition to ILUGNY’s contributions, Library staff also had a room where there were blow-up hats (antlers, chicken heads and more), Lego-related movies, and Lego-themed cupcakes with sour candies in the shape of Lego bricks. Library staff were also on hand to help ILUGNY members to move chairs, and they provided stanchions and moral support.
Overall, it was a great success. ILUGNY looks forward to returning to Elmont Library in the future!
