A couple weeks ago, LEGOLand Discovery Center in Westchester had a Sci-fi-themed adults-only night. The timing was perfect because the date was April 26th, also known as Alien Day.
In observance, there was a great custom Xenomorph Brickheadz figure on display.
Other display builds included an Iron Giant vignette, HAL from 2001, a Westworld android, and the Nolan Trilogy Batman logo.
The make-and-take was an X-Wing and TIE Fighter combo. They weren’t super accurate but they did have interesting parts and techniques.
The X-Wing was spiced up a little by adding the A-Wing pilot polybag that was given out after finishing the scavenger hunt (although it further detracted from the accuracy of the build).
Another game was to identify the various brick-built Superhero icons. The logos going clockwise are Wonder Woman, Venom, The Comedian (Watchmen), Shazam, Punisher, Deadpool, Blue Beetle, Hellboy, Black Panther, and The Incredibles.
The prizes for the timed build competition were an Alien Facehugger and egg, a dancing Groot, and an Infinity Gauntlet.
Here are the entries for the build contest. The winner was the triad of a Xenomorph, Facehugger, and Motion Tracker. The second and third place were the Kylo Ren lightsaber and a TIE Fighter.
Beep boop.
The attendance prize was a damaged-box Death Star. Other prizes included LEGO Dimensions packs, a City helicopter transport, and a Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom set. Really great assortment of giveaways this time around.
Only three LUG members were able to make it this time around, but it was still a solid way to spend a Thursday night. These are every other month, so the next one should be a Thursday night in June.
