Nearly every month LLDC (www.LegoLandDiscoveryCenter.com) has an AFOL night (Adult Fans Of LEGO, 18+) who reminisce about and/or actively enjoy LEGO. And ILUGNY, a LEGO User Group in the tri-state area, has members who actively enjoy LEGO and who attend these events to meet like-talented adults to share our passion and to participate in the activities. NOTE: Adults NOT bringing child to LLDC are only allowed to go during an Adult Night, which is good because that’s when it’s an adult-friendly atmosphere!
This month we report on April’s Game Of Thrones themed event (which was postponed from the snow cancellation in March) …
I’ve been to over a dozen of these events and usually find something different every time and plenty of new people in attendance. I’ve met adults who plan to bring their kids, to grandparents, to those who still have an appreciation after their teen years, as well as both guys and girls in roughly equal numbers. LEGO offers something for everyone apparently.
JustJon, LEGO9V, MikeB, Xavier, and I (BG3D) had a good time at this event as there were a lot of people in attendance, especially the ladies, who are usually in good attendance already. I guess Game Of Thrones has a large female audience. Many people participated in all of the activities at LLDC, including the final event, the Speed Building Challenge, which focused on a “Game Of Thrones” theme!
MINILAND was still its’ basic self, so I skipped pictures.
Special Events this month:
• Trivia Challenge – Many people participated in multiple games, including most ILUGNY members.
• Lannister Bingo – I missed this.
• Costume Contest – There was one girl with a nice costume who dressed as Daenerys Targaryen, complete with baby dragons.
